The nearly 123,000 JA polycrystalline modules, with about 290W of output apiece, will be installed across five projects in the Arava and Negev Deserts, for which Siemens is acting as engineering, procurement and construction contractor.
The projects are being developed by Israel-based Arava Power Company, which counts Siemens among its investors. JA’s shipments will extend through May.
Late last year the Israeli government approved a plan to transfer 300MW of planned wind capacity to the PV sector, as it races to make up lost ground on its renewables targets.
