Arava secures funding for 58MW of PV at eight plants in Israel

Five of the projects will be in Israel's Negev desert

Israeli solar group Arava Power has secured more than $200m in finance to develop eight PV projects in the country totalling 58MW.

Arava – which has been 40%-owned by German industrial group Siemens since 2009 – will build five plants in the Negev desert.

Engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) for the 35MW of Negev PV will be handled by Siemens Israel.

Arava has also secured finance to press on with 23MW at three other plants in a partnership with EDF Israel, the local unit of the French utility giant.

The company raised the project finance from a variety of lenders. Arava is planning a total PV project pipeline of more than 400MW.
