Windstream, owned by a New York-based investment group, was awarded a FIT contract in May 2010 for its 300MW Wolfe Island Shoals project, slated for installation between 5km and 16km off the northeastern coast of Lake Ontario.

Wolfe Island was the largest single FIT contract handed out by the Ontario Power Authority during the first round of allocations – accounting for nearly 20% of the total wind capacity awarded.

But
