During spring 2016 – the March through May period – wind accounted for 21.5% of all the electricity generated within the SPP's system, compared to 15% during the same period last year.
The Little Rock, Arkansas-based SPP oversees the bulk electric grid and wholesale power market in more than a dozen states across the central US.
Many of the largest and fastest-growing statewide US wind markets are within SPP’s system, including Texas, Oklahoma, Iowa and Kansas.
