“The bank has given priority to the infrastructure sector; within infrastructure, the priority is power; and within power, the priority is wind,” said Roberto Zurli Machado, infrastructure department director at BNDES, speaking at an industry event.
Last year, BNDES approved loans for the Brazilian wind sector worth R$6.6bn ($1.96bn) – for 2.6GW of projects – and it expects loan approvals to rise 15% in value terms this year.
