EDF Energies Nouvelles commissioned its 61.5MW Grassridge wind farm in South Africa’s Eastern Cape, the company’s first completed wind farm on the African continent. Grassridge, which uses 20 Vestas V112 turbines, was one of three wind projects awarded to EDF EN in South Africa’s 2012 renewables tender. Grassridge is 60% owned by InnoWind, EDF EN’s 80%-owned South African subsidiary, and 40% by local partners.
