DNV GL has awarded ABBSwitzerland component certification for its latest-generation main frequency converter, a technology developed specifically for use in offshore wind turbines as powerful as 12MW. The component certificate for the PCS6000 medium-voltage wind converter allows ABB to market the system as compliant with offshore wind turbine guidelines relating to safety, functioning and quality. "The certification underlines the quality of PCS6000, its production process and documentation, providing our customers with confidence that our component is meeting worldwide technical requirements and standards," says Stephan Ebner, head of product management and quality at ABB.
