The UK government has started considering recommendations by the UK Planning Inspectorate (PINS) on Dong Energy’s up-to-1.8GW Hornsea 2 wind farm off northeast England. Energy secretary Amber Rudd has three months to reach a final decision on whether to grant the go-ahead for the giant project. Officials from her Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC) have asked for the latest conservation advice concerning a possible Special Area of Conservation for harbour porpoises, proposed for the Southern North Sea.
