"There aren't only new jobs in the renewable sectors, but the Energiewende [energy transition] also leads to an overall job increase in the energy sector," BWE president Hermann Albers says.
"The wind energy sector with close to 40% has the greatest effect on employment. That shows that the transformation of our energy system is successful."
The number employed in the renewables sector in Europe's largest economy almost doubled from 231,000 in 2006 to close to 400,000 in 2012, according to the study from the DIW Econ consultancy entitled TheEmployment Effect of the Energiewende.
