This is the first time that China has signed significant deals over renewable energy with Brazil.

The agreements, part of  a 35-deal list, were signed in Brazil's capital Brasília during a meeting between Chinese premier Li Keqiang and Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff aimed at improving commercial and political relations between the two largest BRICS nations.

The presidents of China's state companies China Three Gorges (CTG) and State Grid Corporation of China (CGCC) also met with Brazil's Mines and Energy Minister Eduardo Braga to discuss the investments and co-operation agreements in power generation and transmission involving federal power holding company Eletrobras and subsidiary Furnas.
