The latest report by the UK Committee on Climate Change (CCC) came the day after the House of Lords – the upper house of Britain’s parliament – voted down plans to end onshore wind subsidies a year early, intensifying the row enveloping the country’s energy policy.
The CCC report said “mature renewables [including onshore wind and PV] are already demonstrating that they can provide electricity at a lower lifetime cost, implying they will effectively be subsidy-free by 2020."
