Total annual renewable power generation in the US will grow by 72% between 2013 and 2040, with the overall share of renewables in the electricity mix lifting from 13% to 18%, according to the “reference” scenario in the EIA’s Annual Energy Outlook 2015.
For some optimistic renewables developers, that outlook may not seem nearly bullish enough.
But the report underscores the fact that even in fairly conservative forecasts, wind and solar play an ever-more-central role in the US power sector.
