Total annual renewable power generation in the US will grow by 72% between 2013 and 2040, with the overall share of renewables in the electricity mix lifting from 13% to 18%, according to the “reference” scenario in the EIA’s Annual Energy Outlook 2015.

For some optimistic renewables developers, that outlook may not seem nearly bullish enough.
