The wind OEM is installing the four-rotor demonstrator turbine at the Risø test site in co-operation with the Technical University of Denmark.
Vestas said the concept machine is part of a “process of continuous innovation and exploration” designed to help reduce the cost of energy from wind.
The concept will require the development and test of numerous new load and control features, it added.
