Workers began an occupation of the plant’s management office on 20 July in protest against Vestas’ plans to close the factory and another facility in nearby Southhampton at the end of July, with the loss of 600 jobs.
While the number of people supporting the workers’ outside the plant has grown and a small encampment has sprung up, management has erected a fence around the offices and police have attempted to stop food and other workers from getting in.
