Vestas will supply 80 turbines to the project, which received full approval from the German government on 27 July after several years of entanglement with the German military. PNE and Vestas say they are aiming to start construction in 2011 or 2012.

PNE, based in Cuxhaven, Germany, saw its first-half profits rocket 41.7% to €94.7m ($134m) thanks to a battery of new onshore projects coming on line.
