Vestas did not disclose financial terms of the deal, which would see EVRAZ supplying as much as 20% of the tower plant’s steel requirements, a Vestas official told the Pueblo Chieftain newspaper.
Tony Knopp, manager of the tower plant in Pueblo, says EVRAZ will deliver the steel by rail from its mill in Portland, Oregon. EVRAZ offered competitive pricing and use of its railcars for delivery, while Vestas wanted to source additional steel in North America.
