The contract was initially awarded last year by Dong Energy to CT Offshore. However, last week A2SEA announced that it was exiting the cabling sector, to focus on its core business of installing foundations and offshore turbines.
The shift means CT Offshore will not undertake any more contracts, and all its vessels and equipment will be sold. A2SEA, which will also sell two of its jack-up vessels, says: "The Walney Extension contract will be handed over to VBMS to execute in full agreement and co-operation with Dong Energy."
