When fully operational, Ormonde’s 30 REpower 5MW turbines in waters up to 21-metres deep are expected to produce around 500GWh of electricity per year, eventually supplying power to some 100,000 homes.
Power from the 8.7 square km wind farm, located 10km offshore, is sent along a 42km, 132kV export cable and into to the UK national grid.
Ormonde is the first commercial-scale project to use 5MW wind turbines on fabricated-steel jacket foundations.
