The Swedish utility says the five wind turbines that went into operation in 2001 in the southern Kalmar Sound, close to the island of Öland, are of an older model, and it is not economically feasible to renovate them or repower the site.
The plant has been owned by Vattenfall since 2006 and was its first offshore park in Sweden.
