The company has set a March 16 deadline for bids for its German lignite business, but according to German daily Handelsblatt companies that had shown interest, among them Czech utility CEZ, were not willing to offer a sufficiently high price acceptable to Vattenfall.
Vattenfall officials contacted by Recharge declined to comment on the matter.
Vattenfall last month reported a SKr19.8bn ($2.36bn) net loss for 2015, a year in which it recorded SKr36.8bn
