IHS-EER associate director Matt Kaplan says uncertainty over whether the production tax credit (PTC) will be extended is “leading most developers to either expedite projects for 2012 or suspend US wind projects unable to be completed by year-end”.
Kaplan cites the recent cancellation of 116MW of Idaho projects by Exergy Development Group as an example.
However, IHS-EER says it has identified approximately 900MW of wind projects with a “high probability” of being constructed in 2013, with or without a PTC extension.
