The Production Tax Credit expired at the end of 2012 amid a haze of uncertainty, resulting in an extraordinarily bad 2013 for US wind additions – of just 1,084MW. That followed a record-smashing 2012 in which developers – racing to beat the PTC deadline – installed 13.2GW.
In early 2013, the PTC was extended for another year, which led to 4.7GW
