US Wind, a subsidiary of Italian renewables developer Renexia, is also considering using 4MW turbines from an undisclosed vendor for the first stage of the project, which could be as large as 248MW.

Siemens is the vendor with a 4MW offshore wind turbine.

US Wind’s thinking on its turbine-procurement strategy was revealed in studies done by PJM, which relied on previously undisclosed information from US Wind.

If the developer used GE machines the first stage would require 41 turbines. If it used a 4MW model, it would need 62 machines.
