Twenty-two vendors with a US presence reported sales of 51 turbine models totaling 7,811 units compared with 9,820 in 2009, with the industry reporting a significant shift to larger units connected to electrical networks and away from off-grid systems. Nine of the 10 leading models sold in the US were grid-connected.

Seven US vendors had sales of more than 1MW including exports last year led by Northern Power, Southwest Wind Power and Bergey Windpower, while six foreign manufacturers sold more than 1MW in the US.
