The deal will see GE Renewable Energy and the Vietnamese government co-operate to help get the wind capacity in place by 2025.
The agreement with GE was hailed earlier today by US President Barack Obama, who is on a visit to Vietnam and oversaw the signing of $16bn of commercial deals between the two nations.
GE already has turbines operating in the country at the Bac Lieu wind farm in shallow waters of the Mekong Delta, where about 100MW is in place.
