Russell Tencer believes the same phenomenon is coming to wind, and he's convincing big investors, including Norway's Statoil, that he's right.
In 2013 Tencer co-founded United Wind, a Brooklyn start-up that's adopted a model similar to that of SolarCity, the nation's largest rooftop solar installer.
For no upfront cost, United Wind installs small turbines for customers; it provides them with cheaper power than their current electric utility; and it collects revenues through long-term lease payments.
