Less than 600 megawatts (MW) of onshore wind projects were submitted to the government for approval during the six-month period to March. That compares with nearly 1,300MW submitted during the prior six-month period, and nearly 1,100MW during the same period last year.
In terms of the amount of capacity being consented, the fall-off was even worse. Around 300MW of onshore wind projects were given the nod in the last six months, compared to some 1,300MW during the previous period – a drop of nearly 80%.
