The five units – which feature diverse design characteristics in terms of motion compensation, LiDAR unit, mooring system, power supply, and floater design – will be installed on the offshore IJmuiden, Neart na Gaoithe and East Anglia sites, and their data feeds checked against in-field meteorological masts.
The campaign, taking place under the aegis of Carbon Trust's Offshore Wind Accelerator (OWA) technology development programme, will see units from Spain's Eolos, Belgium's FLiDAR, Canada's Axys and "up to two" other floating Lidar platforms installed at the North Sea sites.
