Aviva Investors, the group’s asset management division, teamed up with German investment group SachsenFonds to buy the Almatret wind farm in Lerida from developer Element Power for an undisclosed sum.
The wind farm has been operational since November 2010 and consists of 25 Vestas V90 turbines.
Ian Berry, fund manager for infrastructure and renewable energy at Aviva Investors, says the insurer is looking for “high quality, long-lived renewable energy assets with low risk and strong yield profiles”.
