Some 200 representatives of the sector gathered in Glasgow for a summit organised by the devolved Scottish government following a UK-level decision to end Renewables Obligation (RO) support in April 2016 for new onshore plants, 12 months ahead of schedule.

Scotland – with the lion’s share of operating and planned UK onshore wind – expects to be hardest hit by the RO decision, and Scottish energy minister Fergus Ewing said business owners told the meeting they faced laying off staff as a result of the changes.
