The Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC) statistics shows the UK’s renewable electricity capacity was 30GW at the end of 2015, a 21.9% increase [5.4GW] on a year earlier.
The figures show the amount of electricity generated by wind increased by 26%, so that overall wind energy now powers around 9.8 million UK homes. Solar output increased by 86%, and bioenergy grew by 28%.
