UK CCC puts RE centre stage to meet 57% emissions cut goal

The CCC, established under the UK’s 2008 Climate Change Act to advise the government on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, has published its proposals for the Fifth Carbon Budget suggesting a 57% reduction target by 2028-32.

The committee says the UK has made good progress to date.  Emissions have reduced by 36% on 1990 levels and if current policies are effective will be down to 43-46% by 2020.
