The Ankara-based regulator, EPDK, is due to collect preliminary licence applications in October next year, according to news agency Bloomberg.
Turkey has more than 4GW of wind power from 101 projects, and the new auction will bring forward a programme originally due to be completed by 2020.
Turbine manufacturer Nordex says “any such positive sign from the country’s government is welcomed”.
“Turkey is definitely one of the biggest markets we have, second only to Germany,” a spokesman tells Recharge.
