Gros-Morne is one of five wind farms comprising 589.5MW of capacity that Cartier Wind Energy was awarded for development under the province’s 2004 request for proposals, Marie-Josée Privyk, director for investor relations at Innergex, tells Recharge.

TransCanada owns 62% of Cartier and Innergex the balance, with both investors holding a 50% management stake.

“This first request for proposals became the founding block of the wind energy industry in Quebec, and Innergex is particularly proud of having been able to contribute to its development and to the economic prosperity of the Gaspé region,” says Innergex chief executive Michel Letellier.
