TPI – which has manufactured blades in Turkey since 2012 – is planning the new facility in Izmir, where its existing factory is sited.
The company supplies blades from the Turkish operation for turbine manufacturers GE and Nordex. It signed a multi-year agreement with the latter in 2013 to deliver NR-58.5 blades for use on Nordex turbines.
The US company said when operating at full capacity, the new plant will double its production in Turkey in a move designed to support “the strong wind markets in Europe, Middle East, and Africa”.
