Perhaps driven by the rapidly depleting Dutch gas fields and Dutch wind’s losing battle with Nimbyism, both sides were falling over themselves to offer mutual support at the Gas Meets Wind North Sea Energy Symposium.

But despite more than three hours of conversation involving heavyweights such as TenneT chief executive Mel Kroon, RWE boss Peter Terium and Van Oord head Pieter Van Oord, not to mention WindPower Europe’s Giles Dickson, the practicalities of what that co-operation might entail were barely discussed.
