The TSO, which has already built 4.3GW of grid links in the German North Sea, will build five identical offshore substations on jacket foundations that will transport a combined 3.5GW to the Dutch grid.
The price of the transmission lines is not included in the cost of the wind farms’ construction, significantly reducing costs for developers.
TenneT will connect the offshore arrays with 66kV cables instead of the usual 33kV to reduce transmission losses and therefore lower costs.
