Tata Power – a unit of the giant Tata conglomerate, one of India’s best-known companies – agreed to acquire Welspun Renewables for an sum that is not disclosed, but which local reports said values the latter at about $1.4bn.
Welspun Renewables – currently owned by the Welspun Group diversified conglomerate – has a portfolio of 990MW of solar and 150MW of wind assets spanning 10 states, 1GW of which is already operating.
