Suzlon says the deal is worth around $1.2bn, and is the biggest order ever signed by an Indian independent power producer (IPP).
Caparo will commission 500MW of the projects by March 2012 and another 500MW by March 2013.
The projects will use various Suzlon turbines included the S88 and the new S9X 2.1MW turbines, which have been designed for improved performance at low and moderate wind speed sites.
