The government of the Indian state of Maharashtra announced the probe into Suzlon’s land-buying practices after the charges were levelled by opposition leaders in the state assembly.
Nitin Gadkari, leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), says Suzlon has made more than 50bn rupees ($1.1bn) on illicit land deals linked to wind farms near the cities of Dhule and Nandurbar in the past three years.
