Suzlon, India’s largest wind turbine maker, will deliver eight 1.25MW turbines during 2009 to the Kalpitiya region of Sri Lanka. Construction on the project is expected to be finished by 2010.
The order is a milestone for Sri Lanka’s nascent wind sector, marking the first Sri Lankan wind project to feature megawatt-class turbines, and the first to be developed by a private developer.
