Subsidies still needed for up to 10 years in offshore, Hywind manager says

Despite recent zero subsidy outcomes at tenders in Germany and the Netherlands, subsidies will still be needed in offshore wind for the coming five to ten years, Halvor Hoen Hersleth, Equinor’s operations manager for Hywind Scotland, said.

“I think definitely there is a future without subsidies. But I think we need subsidies for a couple more years to stimulate the industry,” Hersleth told the opening panel at Global Offshore Wind 2018 in Manchester.
