'Studies point to Brazil's wind potential being 250GW, and PV is as promising as wind'

In August, Brazil's wind sector broke two records. On 7 August, it reached the 7GW installed capacity mark; two days later, wind supplied 8% of total power consumed in the country as the Northeast entered the windy season.

These figures, says Romeu Rufino, a board member at power regulator Aneel, contributed to supply security and even helped stave off a supply crunch.
