The three 10MW wind farms – owned by local companies Nirmalapura Wind Power, Daily Life Renewable and PowerGen Lanka – are part of a plan to install 400MW of wind capacity by 2020, says a ministry spokesman.
The plants, in Puttalam district in northwestern Kaplitiya, cost a total of 7.2bn rupees ($54.6m) to develop, the spokesman adds.
