Pioneer represents sPower's second-ever wind project, following its acquisition in June of the 62MW Latigo project, currently under construction in the neighbouring state of Utah.
Like Latigo, the Pioneer project was purchased from Wasatch Energy, and has a 20-year PPA in place with a unit of Berkshire Hathaway’s PacifiCorp.
Under Wasatch, the Pioneer project faced significant local opposition, but a recent meeting with the local siting council was "very positive", an sPower spokeswoman tells Recharge.
