South Dakota sets special 55% tax refund for larger wind projects

The House voted 49-10, while the Senate voted 33-0. The override was unusual in that Rounds is a Republican and both houses are controlled by the same party.

Despite having some of the best US wind resource, South Dakota had lagged most neighboring states in developing it.

According to the American Wind Energy Association, South Dakota had 313 megawatts of wind power installed at the end of last year.
