Snowtown 2 uses 90 3MW Siemens machines at its site north of Adelaide in the state of South Australia. The new capacity – built under a turnkey contract by the German group and its first wind turbine order in Australia – adds to the existing 100MW at Snowtown 1.

Its owner, the New Zealand utility Trustpower, said the project is expected to come in at A$424m ($371m), some A$16m below initial budget, “an excellent result for a project of this scale”.
