With an operating installed capacity of almost 2GW, Odebrecht Energia is the power arm of the Odebrecht group, one of Brazil's biggest infrastructure, construction, mining and petrochemical conglomerates.

So far, the company has invested in large-scale hydroelectricity totaling about 1GW via a 28.6% stake in the 3.5GW Amazon region Santo Antonio dam, and bioenergy plants with operating capacity of 854MW.

Odebrecht Energia has also had 1MW of PV in operation for over a year at the Pernambuco Arena World Cup football stadium, which will help the company decide whether to invest further in solar power, investment director Walter Milan Tatoni told Recharge.

Tatoni
