After a $22m investment, Swedish bearings-maker SKF in September inaugurated a factory to supply US wind turbine manufacturer GE in Brazil.

The importance for GE of the event was that it was able to increase output to 500 machines a year, complying with local-content requirements by the government.

For SKF, via its Kaydon unit, the opening was part of a global strategy which identified Brazil's 2GW a year market as a prime target for growth.
