In doing so, the German company hopes to keep its blade factory in Tillsonburg, Ontario busy even if the wind market in Ontario pulls back sharply in the next few years, as is expected.

Siemens has been producing blades for its 2.3MW and 3.2MW onshore turbines in Tillsonburg since 2010.

The plant came as part of the sweeping deal Samsung struck with the provincial government in 2009, in which the Korean company promised to ensure that four renewables-related factories were built.
